I would like to thank you and your staff for the contribution you made to making our Parliament 101: The Public Service Commission’s Relationship with Parliament information session such a resounding success.
Given the many demands on your time, your generosity in speaking with us and answering our questions in such an honeste and straightforward way was most appreciated.
The highlight of the day for participants, without a doubt, was the unexpected privilege and thrill of visiting the historic House of Commons chamber and hearing your personal views and reminiscences.
Thanks to your involvement, I know PSC staff staff left the session with a much better understanding of the priorities and challenges that parliamentarians deal with on a daily basis.
Yours sincerely,
Maria Barrados, PhD
On behalf of the Board of the Heron Emergency Food Centre, I wish to express our sincere appreciation for your support of our third annual walk to raise funds. Your personal participation and your words of encouragement were important for our volunteers and walkers.
I am pleased to report that the walk raised just over $11,000, which will go far to meet the ever-increasing demand for help in making ends meet for the less fortunate in Ottawa South. In October, we served 1,460 people, an increase of 22% over the same month in 2010. In these circumstances, it is clear that we will need to have another fundraising walk in 2012. I trust we can rely on your continuing support at that time.
Thank you as well for directing the $50 honorarium from the Political International Development Studies Association to HEFC. Like all the funds raised at the walk, it will be used solely to buy food.
Sincerely,
Grey Yost
President
“Herzing College would like to thank Member of Parliament David McGuinty for speaking at the College’s graduation ceremony on May 13th, 2011. Less than two weeks after his re-election, Mr. McGuinty delivered an inspirational key note address to over 400 graduates and family members in attendance.”
- Dr. Michael McAllister, President, Herzing College, Ottawa
“It has been an extreme pleasure having David McGuinty, M.P. for Ottawa South, attend our annual fundraiser to award the champions with the McGuinty Cup. He is so aware of the needs of the community and understands how affordable programming can enhance the community and the members it serves. He is passionate about the community, listens and understands our needs as a small not for profit organization and has been able to provide us with valuable information to help us grow and move forward. We value our partnership with David and it has been a privilege to work with him to enhance the lives of the community members in Ottawa South.”
- Danielle Smith, Ottawa Tennis Community Centre
“David McGuinty not only walked the walk David walked the talk. Heron Emergency Food Centre approached Mr. McGuinty three years ago to assist HEFC in Step Up and Step Out to Stop Hunger walk fund raiser.
Mr. McGuinty did not hesitate to assist by writing over three hundred letters requesting support from the local churches, schools and business leaders in the South East Ottawa community. David McGuinty also with many of his family members walked the walk.
The HEFC provides basic emergency food to people with food insecurities. While we continue to explore solutions, it is imperative that we support and maintain this essential charity. This is the message David McGuinty has assisted HEFC in making aware to the community. HEFC would like to thank David McGuinty for his continued support these past three years in solving the problem of hunger.”
